Get Sust! gets a face lift

Welcome to the new-look Get Sust!

  • For regular readers – thanks for hanging in there while we took a short sabbatical.
  • If you’re new to Get Sust!, take a look at the ‘about’ and ‘supporters’ pages for a quick overview of who we are and why we’re here.

Why the blog? Well, you could say it was the ‘seven-year itch’, but that would be only part of the story.

Get Sust! began life as a plain text email in 2003, sent to just a handful of university course leaders with the message: ‘if you like this, please pass it on’. Gradually our readership grew, but we carried on with the same old low-tech delivery methods. In the end, with around 2000 readers and social media coming at us hard and fast from all angles, we couldn’t buck the trends any longer. So here we are.

But there’s more.

Get Sust! has proved to be as popular with professionals as it is with students and academics, so we’ve joined forces with one of the largest and most well-respected information providers in the business – NBS, part of RIBA Enterprises Ltd, which is wholly owned by the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA).

Get Sust! will be a main contributor to the NBS Sustainability newsletter. It’s free, just like the Get Sust! of old. So please pop over to their website today and join the mailing list.

Meanwhile, however, the Get Sust! blog will concentrate on news, events and publications focusing on sustainable construction topics of particular interest to built environment students, course leaders and researchers. Keep an eye on updates by using the RSS feed, or follow @Get_Sust on Twitter for news alerts.
