Climate change guidance for architects and consumers

The Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) has launched a suite of climate change guidance documents for architects and consumers.

The RIBA Climate Change Toolkit currently comprises three downloadable PDFs (also available as A4 printed documents), with a further three to be added next year.

  • Climate Change Briefing - which ‘sets the scene’ on the relationship between buildings and climate change
  • Guide to Low Carbon Performance Methods and Assessment Methods - describes the energy and environmental standards for the main building types (residential, commercial and public)
  • Guide to Low Carbon Design Tools - covers performance simulation software for buildings of different types, post-construction performance testing, and performance monitoring and evaluation methods.

Most documents in the series are aimed at the construction industry but the first to be published - the Climate Change Briefing - is designed to have a broad, non-professional appeal.
