Domestic refurbishment case studies
The Sustainable Development Commission has collected a series of refurbishment case studies which it says aim to ‘show the art of the possible’.
For example, the Carshalton Grove case study describes a 19th Century semi-detached house which is undergoing major eco-refurbishment. The improvement will reduce total carbon emissions from the house by 75%. While at the Drum Housing Association, six post-war semi-detached and bungalow homes managed by a housing association (which are located off the gas network) have been insulated and fitted with microgeneration to achieve a 75% reduction in annual carbon emissions.
