Energy Minister, Malcolm Wicks is currently promoting Phase 2 of the government’s Low Carbon Buildings Programme - a £40 million scheme which offers grants of 50% towards the cost of installing small scale renewable energy devices such as solar panels or wind turbines.
Grants of up to £1 million per site are available to public sector buildings, including schools, hospitals, housing associations, local authorities and some charitable bodies.
The applications website says that applications for <£100,000 will receive a decision within 5-7 working days, though applications for larger projects will take longer because a more detailed assessment is required. Still, if your project could benefit from a grant, you’d better get in quick!.
