Integrated Environmental Solutions (IES) has announced that, as part of its commitment to sustainable building design, it is making its VE-Ware software tool available to download for free online.
The company says this “...gives limited but incredibly valuable access to the world leading <Virtual Environment> Apache thermal analysis software [so that] new and existing buildings can now have their energy and carbon emissions easily assessed for free.”
The tool - which is ideal for use at early stages of the design process because it allows comparison of different design, layout and system options - will provide near-instant feedback on a building’s energy consumption and carbon dioxide emissions.
At the moment, VE-Ware can only work with models exported directly from Autodesk’s Building Information Modelling (BIM) Revit platform, but IES is planning to expand availability to cover other options for inputting the geometry data.
